Ready For My Close-Up

A cocoon…real close-up. Its shape comes to ridges like an alligator’s back, while the whitish side looks like a soft under-belly, as if the caterpillar is lounging in a hammock on his back. This delicate time-traveling machine is latched on tightly by two, almost microscopic strings like a sling shot. It’s a wonder this magical creature can understand such balance and architecture.

A chrysalis, or cocoon, of a swallow-tailed butterfly. The caterpillar matched the beautiful, fresh green of it’s hammock.
